PVC skirting board is also called vinyl skirting board. As we all know, installing PVC skirting board makes the vinyl floor easy to maintain. While, how to install the skirting board? Please just follow the below 5 steps:
1.Prepare the Wall
It should be ensured that all surfaces to which the profile is to be fixed are sound, dry, flat and free from any contaminants. Wall surfaces should be free from any previous coverings, linings or adhesive residues used to fix them. Paint films and any mold must be removed and the affected surface-treated correctly. For instances of bumps or rough areas, sand can be applied on the wall before painting to achieve a better finish.
2. Confirm the installation location
Using a piece of skirting as a gauging template, place in position and use a pencil to mark the wall to provide a guideline for adhesive application.
3. Cut the PVC Skirting Boards
All internal and external corners should be miter cut. One of the most widely recognized practices of preparing the skirting boards is the mitre saw and hand saw. This is why, when it comes to corners, you will not make a 90-degree cut on the joint; that is why the cut is done at 45 degrees on the joints.
4. Apply Adhesive to the Skirting Boards
Apply one of the recommended adhesives listed below and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application. To be sure that all surfaces are prepared, apply a firm solvent to glue the Skirting Board onto a surface, and then ensure that the back of the piece comes into contact with the right grab adhesive. To achieve better coverage, apply adhesive in zigzag patterns so that the application is evenly distributed.
5. Attach the Skirting Boards to the Wall
Skirting boards will be mounted in the desired direction across the room and should be placed from one side to the other. Apply it with enough pressure to this point, and ensure that it lies level with the surrounding parts of the wall or floor. There should be no irregularities or imbalances in the installation of the skirting board to prevent it. Bring both surfaces together and apply even pressure along the skirting ensuring any air bubbles are removed and full contact is made with the wall.
After the installation finish, you can clean up your room. When someone sticks too much adhesive or caulk on a wall, try wiping it off with a damp cloth in the hopes that it won’t harden up right away. While the PVC Skirting Boards do resist the degradation process, timely cleaning is important because of the presence of particles that help the cleaning process work faster.
